Hey, i have also an Eee pc, and i have installed Centos 5.2 With Gnome Desktop on it, only the on-board LAN work's now !
Still , need to compile - wifi driver for it...

Yes, thanks for the little write-up. I've been interested in getting one of these but wasn't looking forward to using Xandros. If Debian can be installed, well, I guess I better get one!

For future reference, I'd always write to them rather than telephone them. You'll spend plenty of time on the phone, being fobbed-off with excuses and sitting on hold. A short and to-the-point letter, on the other hand, is difficult to argue with or wear-down, unlike a human on the telephone.

Also, you haven't requested a refund for MS Works. Is this because you have use for the software, or simply didn't think about returning it at the time?

I've just been offered £22.98 (UKP) as goodwill against Vista Business. Better than nothing. Took 4 phone calls from them to me to get this far. They stated £22.98 is the amount they pay Microsoft for Vista. Seems a bit low for a £200 retail package.

How did you get the refund? I just called Dell, and they refused to refund Vista, on the basis that it is not mentioned on the bill.

So, what did you state in your second letter to Dell? I might be able to get the refund afterall.

I bought an Inspiron 1720 with Vista Home Premium last July. I was refunded just $25 for that... I wonder what has made this refund ~4.5x (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...) bigger than mine was?

Regardless of official status, it runs just fine. We've got dozens of Zimbra servers running CentOS supporting well over a million accounts. No problems whatsoever.

Hey, at the time we were trying to strike a deal to continue Libranet in some form. After some discussion amicably decided that we couldn't agree on the terms. CentOS is a nice system. I haven't looked at Sidux yet. Take care, Daniel
